A general round-up of what the Rangers have been up to. This can vary from competing in away shoots to purchases of new and interesting guns and gear. Handy tips to be shared or upcoming shoots or social events - this is where it's at.

The Mount Rowan Rangers took on the Flint Hill Prospectors of Ararat in April of 2005 and returned with the monument now gleefully adorning the top of the fridge in the Clubhouse of the Ballarat Pistol Club. The Prospectors as usual, were just not good enough on the day - even though they had more shooters to defend their honour! They do, of course, want a chance to win it back. A date for the next Range War will be sometime late in 2006.

What a lovely little trophy it makes - thanks Ararat!!

DeadwooD Black Hills 1876
A Tribute to Wild Bill Hickock

Sunday 19th November, 2006

This is a joint preseentation by the Flint Hill Prospectors (Ararat) and
The Mount Rowan Rangers. To be held at the Ararat Pistol Club, this shoot will
incorporate the 2006 Range War to decide who gets to keep "the Rock" (as
pictured above).

Last year this was a highly successful shoot with about 25 shooters competing. This time it will be held on Ararat's home turf and we are sure it will also be great fun. Saturday there will be no shooting but there will be a range set aside for those who should feel the need to throw some lead at some targets. As usual, camping and BBQ facilities are available for everyone on the Saturday night with quite a few people set to attend the Saturday night BBQ session. There will no doubt be some sore heads the next day.

A New Home on the Range

Currently the Rangers are starting to get things under way for a new range behind all the others at the Ballarat Pistol Club. We are hoping to make this a true thing of beauty ,,,,,,,, with shop facades, cactus plants and other assorted great looking props that we can incorporate in to the Western theme. It is our hope that this will be a great range to shoot on and will lessen the burden of practice and general shoots by minimising the amount of moving about we have to do with targets and props - they DO get heavy as you know!
