Day 8 to 9. Arrive Da Nang and visit ancient Hoi An town and surrounding area.  Superb dining  at local restaurants.  Fine silks!

<>Day 8.  AM arrive Da Nang, brekky then transfer to hotel in Hoi An and some free time.  early evening visit a silk making enterprise, then a guided walk exploring the Old Town, including the Japanese Bridge, museum and market before a Chinese dinner at the best restaurant in town. B/L/D


<>Day 9.  A free day to relax by the pool or the beach, wander Hoi An's Old Town, or hit the shops (made-to-order clothes).  A garden lunch in town and a rooftop dinner with a dance show (Cham culture) concludes a lazy, entertaining day. B/L/D


Day 10. Depart Da Nang by train for breathtaking scenery en route to Hue, the former royal capital.   Visit the tombs of the emperors, the famous Citadel Palace and take a leisurely trip along the Perfume River to the wonderful Thien Mu Pagoda.

>DAY  10. AM: Transfer to train for a 4 hour trip to Hue via the super-scenic Hai Van Pass. Arrive Hue and transfer to hotel before a boat trip along the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda.    Cyclo tour of Hue in the early evening takes us to a magnificent Dinner.    Lunch on train.   B/L/D

Day 11. Visit the tombs of the emperors and the famous Citadel before farewelling Hue and resuming our rail journey into the North, across the 17th Parallel.   Enjoy spectacular coastal and rural scenes before reaching the capital, Ha Noi.

<>DAY  11.  AM: Early start to visit The Citadel and the tomb of Emperor Tu Duc before returning to hotel; lunch, then on to Hue's historic railway station.  PM: All aboard to cross the 17th Parallel and into the North.   Dinner on train (a party!) and an overnight trip before arrival in Hanoi early the next morning.  Spectacular scenery and sunsets!  B/L/D

Day 12 to 18. Arrive Ha Noi and visit the many famous historical/cultural sites in and around the capital. Includes o/night tours to Sa Pa in the NW mountain region alongside the Chinese Border; then to Ha Long Bay in the east.   Shopping in the Old Quarter (Hanoi) and great entertainment also await.

<>DAY 12. Arrive Hanoi early morning and transfer to Hoa Binh Hotel.  Breakfast & shower then a City Tour. Visit the city centre, the Old Quarter, French colonial residences and HCM's mausoleum.  Lunch followed by visits to some of Hanoi's most famous sites (One Pole Pagoda/Ho Chi Minh's wartime residence/Temple of Literature). Dinner at Le Tonkin resataurant then a night out to Hanoi's celebrated Water Puppets Show followed by stroll home around the beautiful Hoan Kiem Lake.  B/L/D

<>DAY 13.  A coach tour through countryside south of Hanoi to the beautiful scenery around  Tam Coc caves (small boat trip!).   Lunch at local restaurant before returning to Hanoi.   Dinner then transfer to train for overnight trip NW to Sa Pa and the mountain region near the China Border. B/L/D
