      Elizabeth Ann Heald died of smallpox after nursing a neighbour, who was initially thought to have chickenpox.
      Elizabeth had already had chickenpox so she volunteered to take care of the woman. Apparently the woman recovered, Elizabeth unfortunately did not.
      George Heald was supposed to have fallen down the cellar steps whilst drunk and broken his neck.

      John JORDAN married Sept.1895, Mary Alice DAIN, St.Lukes Church, Miles Platting, Manchester.
      Mary A.Jordan states she has been married 16 years, has had eight children, and there are still seven living.

      William HEALD worked on several houses in Hothersall Road, Reddish Stockport. He built the staircases in them, and got priority in buying one, 20 Hothersall Rd.

      Both William MEDLEY and his younger brother Richard, emigrated to Australia.
      A Richard Medley sailed from London, 28 Feb.1924, on the Beltana, bound for Adelaide, arriving Fremantle, 6 Apr.1928.
      He is aged 24 years, is a Labourer, and his address in England was, 19 Lyndhurst Rd.Reddish Stockport.
      A 1925 Electoral Roll shows Richard as a Truck Driver, resident at the Family Hotel, Broken Hill.
      Richard enlisted as a private in the Australian Army, at Torrens Hall, South Australia, on 17 Dec.1941.
      He gave his Next of Kin, as Rose KELVINGTON (maiden name SIMMS).
      A Rose KILVINGTON lived at 68 Meyer St. Torrensville Adelaide, with her husband, William, who was a Gardener.
      The Kilvingtons appear to have emigrated to Australia (Adelaide) in 1926, with their three Children.
      A William Allen Kilvington appears in the English 1901 Census, b.circa 1878, Garton Yorkshire.
      He is resident with his parents Jacob & Annie, at Preston Yorkshire.

      Discharged on 8 Dec.1944, Richard appears to have not married, and died in 1970, at Adelaide.

      William enlisted in the Australian Army (10th.Battalion) at Oaklands, South Australia, on 28 Nov.1914.
      He gave his address as c/o - Mr.G.Allen, Allsop St. Semaphore Adelaide.
      On embarkment from Melbourne, on the HMAT Runic (19 Feb.1915) he gave his age as 29 years, occupation as a Plasterer, and states he is in the care of T.T.Allen, Morgan St. West Broken Hill.
      Wounded in the Dardanelles, and evacuated to England, before returning to Australia, spending time in the Repatriation Hospital in Melbourne.
      William appears to have returned to Broken Hill, married, and settled down in Warrnambool Victoria, at 309 Lava St. living with his wifes family and resuming his trade as a Plasterer.
      My father (Victor Leo Budd) & his parents (Hubert Walton Budd & Clarice Rose Andrew) lived five doors away at 319 Lava St. circa 1930, but I have heard no mention of the Medley or Looney families.
      My father is a third cousin to William, they both shared John Budd and Hannah Evans (their G.G.Grandparents), as common ancestors.
      On the outbreak of WW11, William re-enlisted in the Australian Army on 2 Oct.1939 at Warrnambool, serving as a Sapper, 29 Aust Maint Platoon, being discharged 8 Jul.1947.
      His two sons also enlisted in the Australian Army:

      1. John William Medley, enlisted 18 Mar.1843, Warrnambool, serving as a Craftman (127 Aust BDE Workshop), discharged 13 Dec.1945.
      2. Francis William Medley, enlisted 27 Dec.1941, Warrnambool, serving as a private (15 Australian Ordance Stores Company), discharged 12 Jun.1946.

      William Medleys wife, Catherine (Looneys) parents married in Victoria in 1878.
      Catherine appeared to be one of nine children, all born in Warrnambool (1878-1893).
      Her siblings included Edwin, Annie, Eliza, Agnes, Alice, Margaret, John and Francis LOONEY.
      Two of her brothers served in WW1 and survived the Western Front.
      When John LOONEY enlisted (28 Feb.1916) he gives his occupation as a Coachbuilder, and his NOK, his mother, her address, 75 Archer St.North Adelaide.
      Like William Medley, John Looney re-enlisted in the Australian Army during WW11.
      Catherines father, John Looney, died 24 Oct.1904, aged 53 years, and was a very respected Yardsman, at the Warrnambool Saleyards for 23 years.

      It is said that a relative of the Medleys, a Mrs.Allen, emigrated to Australia, and she and her husband, had an Ice Cream Parlour in Adelaide in the 1920s.
      1920-1926, Sands & McDougall Directories, list a Geo.Allen, as resident at the Refreshment Kiosk, Semaphore Jetty, Semaphore, Adelaide.
      A 1916 Sands & McDougall Directory, lists a G.Allen, as a Chauffeur, resident at Alsop St. Semaphore.

      William and Richard Medleys sister, Florence, and her husband, Harry HEALD, also emigrated to Australia, arriving 4 Feb.1922.
      They lived at 337 Jones St. Broken Hill, where Harry worked as a Truck Driver in the Mines, before the couple returned to England, on board the Orama, which departed Sydney, and arrived London, 4 Jun.1926.
      They stated their future permanent address was 17 Lyndhurst Rd.North Reddish.
      In England they opened a Fish and Chip Shop in Abbey Hey, Manchester , then a Fish and Chip Shop in Birchfield Road, Cheadle Heath, Stockport, retiring in the 1950s to 10 Norwood Road, Great Moor, Stockport.
      The Allens had previously been resident at 337 Jones St.

      It is said that George Medley, second eldest son of George and Emma, emigrated to Canada.
      A George Medley departed Liverpool, 10 Feb.1928, on board the Aurania (Cunard line), arriving Halifax, Nova Scotia, 20 Feb.1928.
      He is aged 30 years, a Labourer, and his address in England was,19 Lyndhurst Rd.Reddish.
      George departed Halifax, Nova Scotia, on board the Cavia, arriving Liverpool, 9 Dec.1944.
      He is aged 47 years, occupation a Guard, and his destination, 20 Hotchersall Rd. Reedish Cheshire.

      Harry Heald enlisted at Manchesters Ardwick Town Hall in the Cheshire Regiment on 23 Nov.1915, being passed for Home Service. His number was 46386.

      His Medical History Card states that he had slight defects but not enough to cause rejection for military service (as follows), shortening of the right leg due to polio paralysis, flat feet and bronchial catarrh. He was passed Class III (three).

      At the time Valentine MEDLEY married (1854) Sarah SIDDALL, Valentine is aged 27 years, is a Ropemaker, and is resident at Allen St.
      He gives his fathers name as George MEDLEY, and his fathers occupation as a Shoemaker.
      Sarah is aged 20 years, and is resident at Lambert St.
      She gives her fathers name as William SIDDALL, and her fathers occupation as a Scissor Filer.
      Valentine is recorded as a Widower.
      The two Witnesses recorded are Daniel HICKLING and Catherine BRITTAIN.

      Valentine appears to have fathered nine children, one by his first wife, seven by his second wife, and one by his third wife.

      Five children died as infants, all buried together in the Sheffield General Cemetery.
      Also buried with the children is Valentines second wife, Sarah (d. 14 Aug.1871, aged 34, 28 Wentworth St.) and Valentines first wifes mother, Eliza Holmes (d.14 May 1868, aged 58, 160 Allen St.).
      Valentines first wife, Mary, (d.15 Jul.1854,aged 24, 158 Allen St.of Cancer) is also buried in the Sheffield General Cemetery.

      In the 1841 England Census (taken on night 6 Jun.), Valentine Medley, is living with his parents and his two siblings, at North St. Sheffield.

      I could not find Valentine Medley and his wife, Mary, and son, in the 1851 Census ?

      In the 1851 England Census (taken on night 30 Mar.), Valentines second wife, Sarah Siddall, is living with her parents and her three siblings (all unmarried), at Lambert St. Court No.10, Sheffield.
      There is also a Lodger, William Stenson, who is unmarried.
      A William SIDDALL married Dec.Qtr.1842, Mary Ann MONKMAN, Bridlington Yorkshire.
