At the time Florence MEDLEY married (1912) Harry HEALD, Florence is aged 21 years.
Florence gives her fathers name as George Medley, and her fathers occupation as a Plasterer.
Harry is aged 22 years and is a Clerk.
Harry gives his fathers name as George Heald (deceased), and his fathers occupation as a Sawyer.
Both are resident at 2 Wolsey St. Manchester.
The two Witnesses recorded are William HEALD and Lily HASLAM.
On the death of her parents, George and Emma, Ruth Heald (the informant) is resident at 17 Lyndhurst Rd. Reddish Stockport.
Also buried with George and Emma in the Philips Park Cemetery, is Ruths mother, Hannah Chappell, and a Richard Wilson (6 Aug.1902).
Ruths sister, Hannah, married a Thomas Wilson (1892).
William HEALD worked on several houses in Hothersall Road, Reddish Stockport. He built the staircases in them, and got priority in buying one, 20 Hothersall Rd.
Both William MEDLEY and his younger brother Richard, emigrated to Australia.
A Richard Medley sailed from London to Adelaide in 1924.
A 1925 Electoral Roll shows Richard as a Truck Driver, resident at the Family Hotel, Broken Hill.
Richard enlisted as a private in the Australian Army, at Torrens Hall, South Australia, on 17 Dec.1941.
He gave his Next of Kin, as Rose KILVINGTON.
Discharged on 8 Dec.1944, Richard appears to have not married, and died in 1970, Adelaide.
William enlisted in the Australian Army (10th.Battalion) at Oaklands, South Australia, on 28 Nov.1914.
He gave his address as c/o - Mr.G.Allen, Allsop St. Semaphore Adelaide.
On embarkment from Melbourne, on the HMAT Runic (19 Feb.1915) he gave his age as 29 years, occupation as a Plasterer, and states he is in the care of T.T.Allen, Morgan St. West Broken Hill.
Wounded in the Dandanelles, and evacuated to England, before returning to Australia, spending time in the Repatriation Hospital in Melbourne.
William appears to have returned to Broken Hill, married, and settled down in Warrnambool Victoria, at 309 Lava St. resuming his trade as a Plasterer.
My father (Victor Leo Budd) & his parents (Hubert Walton Budd & Clarice Rose Andrew) lived five doors away at 319 Lava St. circa 1930, but I have heard no mention of the Medley family.
My father is a third cousin to William, they both shared John Budd and Hannah Evans (their G.G.Grandparents), as common ancestors.
On the outbreak of WW11, William re-enlisted in the Australian Army on 2 Oct.1939 at Warrnambool, serving as a Sapper, 29 Aust Maint Platoon, being discharged 8 Jul.1947.
His two sons who also enlisted in the Australian Army.

Francis William Medley, enlisted 27 Dec.1941, Warrnambool, serving as a private (15 Australian Ordance Stores Company), discharged 12 Jun.1946.
It is said that a relative of the Medleys, a Mrs.Allen, emigrated to Australia, and she and her husband, had an Ice Cream Parlour in Adelaide in the 1920s.
1920-1926, Sands & McDougall Directories, list a Geo.Allen, as resident at the Refreshment Kiosk, Semaphore Jetty, Semaphore, Adelaide.
A 1916 Sands & McDougall Directory, lists a G.Allen, as a Chauffeur, resident at Alsop St. Semaphore.
William and Richards sister, Florence, and her husband, Harry HEALD, also emigrated to Australia, arriving 4 Feb.1922.
They lived at 337 Jones St. Broken Hill, where Harry worked as a Truck Driver in the Mines, before the couple returned to England in 1926.
