        Unknown.

I have been unable to trace Edward Thomas Budd.
Whether he got Married and had Children is Unknown ?
It is said that Edward tried to enlist with the Australian Army at the beginning of World War 1, but was rejected, as previously he had suffered a Broken Arm on the Farm (how things changed towards the end of the War).
Apparently he went to America (the United States or Canada ?) and joined the Army as a Captain.
Whether he had basic Military Training in Australia is Unknown, but apparently the Americans were desperate for men who were trained.
He apparently saw Action in Europe (France or Gallilopi ?) and was wounded (shot) in the Stomach.
Recouperating back in America, when fit, he visited Australia and was last heard of in Fiji or New Guinea, where he apparently purchased a Banana, Coconut or Coffee Plantation.
To join the Armed Forces in America, Edward may have had to become a Citizen of that Country.
One Funny Story I can relate, is that when Edward was a boy on the Farm at Wallan, the Family were seated around the Dinner Table, Edwards Mother, Alice, said get that Dog outside as it stinks to high heaven.
Edward piped up and said Mother, it not the Dog its me !!!

We know from his WW1 Registration Card, that Edward enlisted in the U.S.A. Army on the 12 Sept.1918 at Raymond, Pacific County, in the State of Washington.
He gives his occupation as a Blacksmith and Machinist, and Employer as Raymond and Son Company.
Address as the Lincoln Hotel, Raymond and nearest Relative as Alfred Budd (his brother) of Killmore, Victoria.
Note the Spelling of Kilmore !!!
Edward was recorded as Tall in Height, Stout in Build, Colour of Eyes, Grey, and Colour of Hair, Dark.
The U.S.A. did not enter WW1 until 16 April 1917, when it declared war on Germany.

Raymond circa 1915, population was 6,000 and had a reputation as a wild and wooly Timber Milling Town.
Built on Stilts six feet above the tidal plains of the Willapa River and Bay, it was located in one of the most fertile tree growing regions in the World.
      See Map below:

We also know from the 1920 U.S.A. Census (taken 1 Jan.) that Edward is in the H.H.V. Hospital in Groveland, Tuolumne County, California.
His occupation is given as an Engineer at a Power House and year of Immigration, as 1917.
He is still Single and an Australian Citizen.
Note sure what H.H.V. stands for - Hospital for Home Veterans ?

It is unlikely Edward saw or was Wounded in War Action, as the War ended some two months after he enlisted.

Also known from the Obituary on the death of Edwards brother, Arthur Budd, 12 Aug.1941 at Rushworth Victoria, that Edward is resident in Fiji.
By 16 May 1953, on the death of his brother Alfred Budd, at Bendigo Victoria, Edward is deceased.
      No more is known.
