Note the change of Surname from Hale to Walshe, the Maiden Name of Francis Paul Hales, mother.

It is said that Francis Walshe played VFA football for Coburg, then VFL (now AFL) football for Footscray.
A Frank Walsh played 1929-31 for Footscray and was recruited from Coburg. He played 25 games and kicked 4 goals.
At Coburg, Frank played in the 1927 and 1928 Premiership sides, in the Back pocket and as a Ruck rover respectively.
