In the 1861 England Census (taken on night 7 Apr.), Joseph is a boarder at the residence of James and Ann Grimshaw, at 7 George St.Pendleton Salford.
There is also the Grimshaws daughter, Sarah (unmarried) and their grand-daughter, Elizabeth, and another boarder, John Leach (unmarried).

In the 1861 England Census, Mary is resident with her widowed mother, and her two sisters (both unmarried), at 2 David St.Pendleton Salford.
There is also Marys mothers grandson, John Howarth.

At the time of their Marriage (28 May 1863), Joseph Hartley BUDD gives his age as 20 years, and his occupation as a Rope Maker.
Joseph states his father is Henry Hartley BUDD, and his fathers occupation as a Boiler Maker.
Mary HOWARTH is aged 20 years, and states her father, John HOWARTH, is a Dyer.
Both give their place of residence as Davies Street, Manchester.

I could not find Joseph in the 1851 England Census.
But it must be remembered, that part of the 1851 Manchester Census was water damaged, due to a flood.

However Mary appears to be resident with her grandparents, at Stakehill Lane, Thornham Middleton Lancashire.
