Their Names appear to have been Anglicised in Australia.
Another seven Ott children were born in Australia, George, Martin, Frederick, Catherine, Christina, Otillia and John.
Two of these died as infants, while Otillias brother, George, was accidently killed in a railway accident at Broadford (1919) while working as a Ganger for the Victorian Railways.
George had joined the Engineers Branch of the Vic.Railways on 5 Aug.1889, as a Repairer.
One month earlier (3 Jul.) his brother-in-law (Victor Hester) also joined as a Repairer.
Victor had married Georges sister, Catherine.
Georges wife (Alice) died in 1974, aged 105 years and was one of Melbournes Western Suburbs best known identities.
Also an employee of the Railways, she was the first Railway Station Mistress (1912) in Australia.
She stayed in the Railways until her 70s, as a Cleaner at the Newport Workshops.
Her two biggest passions were Gardening and Cricket.
On her 100th. birthday she was visited by several of the Australian Cricketers of the time.
Otillias brother, Henry (1858-1938), had five children by a woman, Jane Wegner, while her husband, George, who had been unable to find certain work in Newcastle,
had gone overseas to the Cape of Good Hope, to look for work.
After he had been there for some time, George wrote to his wife, asking her to join him, but she refused.
It was then that George heard his wife had been in an Adulterous relationship with Henry Ott, and she had several children by him.
On returning to Australia, George went to Court, and had his marriage dissolved on the grounds of Adultery.
Henry subsequently married Jane, but she died the same year, in childbirth ?
And then he married Mary Evans (1894), but Mary died the following year.
Henry then married his second wifes sister, Winifred Evans, and the marriage produced ten children.
What became of George Wegner ?
George returned to South Africa to work as an Undercover Detective in a Diamond Mine. He married in 1895, Antonie Charlotte Bleckmann, in Kimberley, South Africa.
Shortly after (1896) the couple came to Australia, but returned to South Africa in 1900. George died in the Transvaal on 28 Jan.1905.
His second marriage produced three children, two born in Australia, and one born in South Africa.
A son, William C.Wegner, from his first marriage, predeceased him, dying in 1902 (aged abt.21), at Newcastle.
John Ott (1877-1947) is recorded in the following Electoral Rolls:
