He had instructed Osborn & Hudson to sell at Auction, 11 Oct.1893, the whole of his Stock & Effects & it was noted the Land owned by Samuel was being Leased.
Samuel again instructed Osborn & Hudson to sell at Public Auction, 11 Jul.1896, his Farm, which was described as Compact and Well Situated Freehold of 211 acres, consisting of rich agricultural and grazing land, within easy distance of Wallan and Station.
The property is well fenced, subdivided and watered, and is provided with a comfortable new W.B. Homestead and Farm Buildings.
Samuel had been Committed on the advice of his Brother, William Hartley Budd, on 17 Dec.1898.
Approximately 4 years previous, Samuel had suffered a fall from a Horse, resulting in a broken nose and severe Sunstroke.
It appears he was Unconsious for sometime.
Since the fall, his behaviour altered in that he was generally restless, was unable to properly appreciate his surroundings,
could not be trusted alone, had bad memory and had squandered his money.
He had foolish notions about himself and suffered from a number of Delusions, which included:
He climbed a Sapling to avoid discovery, but the dog found him, he then climbed a high range but was still followed.
He subsequently went to the Police for protection and was sent to Gaol for Observation for a Month.
It consisted of 2 parcels of land:
It was granted to William Hartley Budd snr. on 2 Jan.1867.
Samuel in his last Will (dated 9 Aug.1891) bequeathed his land to his sister, Mary Hannah Newing & his personal property to his other sister, Elizabeth McNaughton.
Henry Barber Junior was the Executor & Witnesses to the Will were Rosetta Budd & Henry Hartley Budd.
However, Henry Barber renounced his office as Executor, 31 Aug.1908.
The only land & personal property Samuel owned at his death, were 2 acres with a house, valved at 27 pounds & 7 pound in cash.
When Committed, Samuel did not suffer from Epilepsy, was not Suicidal, and was considered not dangerous to others.
He told a fellow Inmate, that he objected to working on the Farm.
There is no Headstone over his Grave. (only an Ants Nest).
