      Notes

William Vernon Hale owned and ran a Perambulator Factory at 392-396 Lygon St.Carlton, circa 1910-1935.
Circa 1940 the Pram Factory became a Funeral Parlour and in later years a venue for Fringe Theatre, called (you guessed it !) The Pram Factory.
He also went under the name, George Wilson ?? and for a period lived with his sister (Flor.Eliz.Mitchell) at 287 Union Rd. Surrey Hills.
When he died, he owned no Real Estate, but had furniture at the residence of Albert Edward John (Ted) Bulls (a Waterside Union Official) valued at 378 pounds.
His death notice in the Argus stated he served in the A.I.F.
His son William, was a Waterside Worker and in retirement a Furniture Restorer and French Polisher, having worked as a teenager, at Stewart Duncans fathers Restoration business in High St. Preston.
It was Stewart Duncan of Lalor (37 Cyprus St.) that nursed William (the son) when he contracted cancer.
Apparently the son, William as a boy lived with his brother Frank at Ferntree Gully and Frank was the only one of the children that had descendants.
The son, Gerry was a Champion dancer having danced at the Tivoli for 15 years. It is said he played for the Carlton Football Club in the centre, but proved too slight to last. He served an apprenticeship at his fathers Pram Factory.
The son, Edmund died as an Invalid at Beechworth, the burial costs were borne by the Wangaratta Public Cemetery Trust. He was a resident of the Mayday Hills Mental Hospital.
Florence, the Eldest daughter was a Nun of the Brigidine Religious Order at Sedan in France.
Her Religious Name was Sister Helene de tous Les Saints.
Stewart Duncan has in his possession a letter from Amy at Beechworth, dated Apr.1973 to her brother, William at 50 Newry St. Nth. Fitzroy.
Amy was resident at Mayday Hills Benenvolent Hospital, Beechworth.
      (Stewart Duncan died abt.1998).
