In 1848 Charles signed as a witness to the 2nd marriage of his sister Eliza to George FOXWELL at Shepton Mallet. He immigrated to Victoria, Australia, probably with his parents and sister Charlotte in 1854 on the Star of the East. He is not listed as a passenger but as an able-bodied 36 yr-old single man he may have worked his passage as crew. No marriage or children of Charles Hockey have been found in the Victorian Indexes.
