Assisted British Immigrants on Euphemus departed Plymouth 7 Apr 1853, arrived Geelong 18 Jul 1853: QUICK Nathaniel 44 The story is that William Edward QUICK had success as a miner on the Ballarat goldfields and went back for a Cornish bride. He married his cousin Mary Sandow WASLEY on 4 May 1856 at Saint Ives, Cornwall, England. Their mothers were SANDOW sisters. ![]() The square tower of the Church of St Ia can be seen on the harbour of the fishing village. Mary Sandow WASLEY was born 25 Apr 1838, St Ives, Cornwall, England, d/o George WASLEY and Candace nee SANDOW [838] Under Entry No. 868 on the Passenger List of the immigrant ship Dragoon were WT LUKEY, Miner 22 yrs; James SANDER, Miner 20 yrs; William QUICK, Miner, (recorded as) 32 yrs (but should be 22 yrs); and Mary QUICK, wife aged 19 yrs. Also on this ship under Entry No. 815 were Joseph WASLEY, Labourer 24 yrs; John WASLEY, Labourer 33 yrs; and Elisha WASLEY, Labourer 18 yrs. These were not siblings of Mary, but very likely cousins.
