The Roundhouse marks the entrance to Stanton Drew Village at the turnoff from the road from Pensford and Bristol.
An information sheet about historical places in the village inside the church says that the hexagonal building was a toll house of the West Harptree Turnpike Trust from 1793 to 1876.
