Hardy shrub that produces a round to elongated pear shaped fruit five to ten centimetres 2 to 4 inches long. It has an unusual flavour, having a bitter sweet taste which I can only describe as like a tropical fruit salad. It needs a relatively cool climate to set fruit and can withstand quite heavy frosts.
